Star Wars Reminds Us That Rancors Are More Than Happy To Bite The Hand That Feeds

Special effects studio Industrial Light and Magic recently held a contest to find new Star Wars concept artists, and though this piece wasn't one of the winners, it's still pretty amazing.

The piece, from artist Adam Vehige imagines a scenario where Jabba the Hutt is killed not because of a chain around his neck, but instead by his own rancor that realized if it just reached a little higher, maybe it could finally see what's really going on with the dance floor constantly reverberating above his head.

To see some of the concept art winners, head here. And for all things sci-fi and often Star Wars, make sure to read Andrew Reiner's column, Science-Fiction Weekly.
