Nintendo has reported a 33-percent net sales decline for the period of April 1 through September 30 of this year (compared to the same period in 2015) due to a general lack of software for the Wii U.
As a result of the console's decline – sales during the period were roughly half of the 1.1 million units sold worldwide for the same period in 2015 – and the lack of games sales for it, interest in Amiibo figures also declined ("reduced to 3.8 million units for figure-type and 1.7 million units for card-type").
As per usual, however, the handheld department fared better. The 3DS sold 2.7 million units worldwide, an improvement on last year.
