Never one to shy away from porting their older games, Arc System Works is porting the first Guilty Gear game to PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC.
Announced last night during a stream, ArcSys is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the series by bringing back the original title. The original game first released in May 1998 and had a roster of ten characters, introducing series mainstays Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske, Chip Zanuff, and others. The game was later released digitally in 2009 playable on the PS3, PSP, and Vita.
No release date has been given for the port yet, but ArcSys has also announced that Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus R will also be coming to Switch down the line.
Our Take
It's strange that ArcSys is porting a lot of their 2D fighters to Switch, but not any 3D ones. Xrd might have trouble being originally built on UE3, but I wouldn't be surprised to see FighterZ eventually.
